Therapy For Behavioural Challenges
Children often struggle to manage big emotions as a result of being overwhelmed by sensory input, or on account of feeling incapable or inadequate.
- For some children, coping in a busy, noisy situation makes them feel uncomfortable to the point of crying and having a meltdown. Instead of being excited when they are presented with a surprise, these children become totally overcome and end up crying. Similarly, for some children, being hugged or having their hair ruffled by a well-meaning stranger can cause them to become extremely distressed.
- These children spend a great deal of their energy trying to avoid or to control situations which they anticipate will make them feel uncomfortable. Their manipulative and difficult behaviour is easierto understand once we begin to understand what upsets them.
- Together, we can gain an understanding of your child’s confusing behaviour and about the sensory, movement and behavioural strategies which can be used to assist them.
